The Rush of the Wrap-Ups and Endless Gift Lists

Spotify has delivered your yearly wrap-up.
Wired and Wirecutter have opinions about everything you must buy.
Authors everywhere are sharing their best reads of 2025.

And honestly?
It’s a lot.

This time of year can feel like a whirlwind: an urgency to tie a perfect bow around the end of the year and step into the next one fully formed, fully prepared, fully… something.

Have you set your goals?
Do you know your intentions for 2026?
Are you ready?

Maybe, just maybe, we don’t have to be.

What if we paused for a moment?
Placed a hand on our heart, took three slow breaths, and felt the gentle weight of our feet held by the earth? What if we let ourselves sink softly back into joy?

As winter settles in here in the Northern Hemisphere, I’m reminded that the season itself invites us to slow down. To simplify, to return to stillness. This is a time for warm gatherings and quiet reflections, for celebrating what bloomed this year and honoring what broke our hearts. And it can also be a time to let ourselves rest, unclench our jaws, our fists, and release the things we no longer need to carry.

When we follow the natural rhythms around us, we return to our bodies. We notice our breath. We feel our energy shift. We remember what’s true for us, what feels aligned, what matters.

So give yourself permission, quietly, generously, to close the laptop. To trust that you’ve done enough. To know that the gifts you’ve chosen, or haven’t chosen, are already enough.

Let the pressure melt away.
Breathe.
Remember who and what brings you joy.
And allow that joy to flow back in, warm and steady, exactly when you need it most.
